The Wheel of Time novels are some of the best fantasy novels I have ever had the pleasure of reading. I started out mid series (The Fires of Heaven), because my father neglected to return the card to the book club saying he didn't want the book. I saw it sitting on his bookshelf, and the cover interested me, so I read it. I loved it. I went out and bought the first two in the series, but didn't want to buy the whole series because I was afraid I might get bored, as I had with series in the past. I loved them. I went out and bought all the rest that were available at that time (up through Lord of Chaos), including the one I had originally borrowed from my father. One thing I have to say about these books is that they're long. I don't think any of them have fewer than 500 pages. Now, having said that, I must also say that they're hard to put down. I read Lord of Chaos in one day. Took me over 16 hours, but it was a Saturday. It would be best to start at the beginning of the series, but that isn't a critical element to enjoying the series. If you enjoy fantasy, Jordan is a must. Read these books.
Since I liked the Wheel of Time series so much, I decided to give Jordan's Conan books a try. I have to say, while these books aren't as wonderful as the Wheel of Time books, they're definitely worth reading, at least if you enjoyed the Conan movies.
